Endangered • Local
This series is from my digital sketchbook and is a random selection of endangered or extinct animals around the world from the IUCN Red List. These are juxtaposed with local non-threatened species from my backyard. It is a rumination on the fragility of life on the planet and how quickly a seemingly abundant species can become extinct. These are quick sketches done daily and is an ongoing project.
Fun digital collage paintings or digital mixed media.
This series was part of the In a Time of Change: Microbial Worlds Art-Science Collaborative Project (read more at: http://www.jmossart.com/microbes.html). These photographs were taken through the microscope oculus of personally harvested bacteria, water samples, fungi, and slime mold. They were printed on aluminum and mounted on vinyl records.
Alaska Banner Series
These three were a small series of scrolls printed on vinyl mounted with river driftwood hangers and sewn elements. Pictured here are the digital portions only. Click to see full image.
These works were part of public art exhibits in Fairbanks and Chicago.
